Red Cross assists 123 people in Southern Missouri during October

The American Red Cross of Southern Missouri (SOMO) assisted 123 people following house fires during October. There were about 35 incidents were Red Cross assistance was requested in 13 counties.

Of the people that volunteers assisted, 51 were under the age of 18 including four infants. Six people were age 60 or older.

The SOMO service area covers 29 counties. During October, assistance was given in Barry, Cedar, Christian, Douglas, Greene, Howell, Laclede, Lawrence, Newton, Oregon, St. Clair, Stone, Taney and Texas counties.

During September, 85 individuals were assisted after house fires in 16 counties.
